It sure doesn't seem like Abby should already be a year old. This week as I was going through all the photos we've taken of her over the last year, I was reminded often of God's goodness and provision. He has blessed us with such a sweet, sweet daughter. What a blast the first year has been with Abby. It's come with it's share of struggles, but we're better for it, and we wouldn't trade a minute of it for anything in the world. So...it was time to celebrate the first year of our sweet pea's life...

John and I had so much fun decorating the house the night before her first birthday party. We agreed it felt like we were decorating for prom. :-) We put up lots of colorful streamers and balloons as well as a birthday sign and lots of pictures of Abby's first year. We enjoyed having family here for the celebration, including both sets of grandparents as well as John's two sisters and most of Abby's cousins. Abby was quite fascinated with opening her gifts, much more so than at Christmas, and I think she enjoyed being the center of attention. She got pretty messy with her cake but not quite as messy as we thought she might. She really liked to squish it in her hands. .jpg)
She didn't eat much of it as it was probably way sweeter than what she's experienced thus far. She has already thoroughly enjoyed her new red, Radio Flyer wagon and little table and chairs from her grandparents. She looks so big riding in the wagon and sitting at the table having a snack.
The three of us celebrated the occasion again on her actual birthday including enjoying more birthday cake and letting her open a couple of gifts from us. She loved her new grocery cart as she's really moving on her feet now, and she's wearing out her new Baby Einstein DVD (My First Signs). She seemed to like Momaw's famous strawberry cake much better than the Kroger cake we had for her party and enjoyed getting messy once again.
