This weekend we celebrated Christmas, just the three of us, and gave Abby our few gifts before we hit the road for our holiday journey to visit our families over this next week or so. John and I were delighted to watch the joy and excitement on Abby's face as she came down the stairs bright and early Saturday morning to find gifts under the tree from Mom and Dad. We had a blast staying up late and assembling her "big" gift a couple of nights beforehand and reminisced about the great Christmas morning memories we have from childhood. Being on the "assembler" end of things was quite fun, as we knew we were assembling something that would bring Abby great joy and hours of entertainment (hopefully!). After Abby opened gifts and played with each one in between, we made a pancake breakfast and played, played, played all morning. So, without further delay, here are a few photos from the morning. By the way, the photo in my blog header above is from the morning as well as Abby was playing with one of her gifts and I was playing with the settings on my camera.
opening the smaller gifts first...
a few Dora and Curious George books as well as a new Beginners Bible
it's been a priceless teaching tool!

the "big" gift, the kitchen, was a huge hit...
we've made many meals already
John and I have had fun with the kitchen, too.
He loves the little burner that makes a bubbling or frying noise
when you put a pot or pan on it. Too fun!
Abby is also enjoying her Leap Frog Learning Train which was handed down from her buddy, cousin Nick. :-) Thanks, Aunt Marcy!
