So, of course, we've been telling Abby "I love you" many times each day since she was born. I make it a point to say it and sign it as I put her down for her naps twice a day and also at night. She's been interested in the sign part for a couple of weeks holding her hand out like she wants to sign, too, but she just doesn't have that fine motor skill down yet. I've been helping her do it by holding her two middle fingers down for her.
On Tuesday as John was leaving for work, Abby and I were out waving goodbye as we usually are each morning. I told her to "tell Daddy, 'I love you'"...and sure enough, she said it! That same afternoon when I put her down for her nap I signed and said "I love you" as I always do. And then, with no prompting at all, she said it back to me..."I lu you." I was shocked...and even a bit teary. :-) Then, the three of us are at the mall last night eating dinner at the food court. John and I are just chatting away and helping Abby along with her meal when Abby looks up at me, smiles and says "I lu you." Needless to say, it absolutely made my day. What a sweet pea!
